About My Blog
Hello there! My name is Jess.
And this is my blog.
I am a 22 year old college student (not for long!) among other things. I started Words in a Jar a few years ago but just recently realized how much it meant to me. Consequently, I have decided to focus a lot more time on it and the projects that arise from attending to it.
Growing up, I had only one after school activity: dancing. I took ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical and contemporary and I competed as well. I have been a dancer for 19 years and for the longest time it was the only thing I ever wanted to do.
After graduating high school, I taught dance at several local dance studios for four years and I absolutely loved it. But I soon realized that there were other interests I had that I wanted to be more involved in. I started educating myself about graphic design and web design and I started by building my baby, www.disneymadesimple.com.
After making my first website, I realized that the creativity I used to choreograph dances could also be used for other mediums. This led me to pursue a degree in graphic design. I will be graduating in the spring and I am so excited to have completed my degree.
I tend to be a very scattered person, but there are three areas where I really have the most interest. These are the things you will see most on my blog- the topics I will talk about most often, simply because I love them so much.
But I don't balk at stepping outside the boundaries and posting random things I find pretty or funny, so don't be surprised if you see some silly posts! I am a fun-loving person and I just can't keep it to myself!

Writing
Ever since elementary school when we had to make up stories for creative writing, I have loved to write. Because I spent so much time dancing, I never had the chance to spend a lot of time writing and honing my voice and my craft. My hope is to be able to pursue that now.
This blog has given me an immediate outlet for my writing, a way to share not only my thoughts and feelings, but a way to articulate and express myself.
I have several ideas for books and hope to one day be able to call myself an author!

Photography
Photography runs in my family. My grandfather was an amateur photographer and even had some of his photos published. My father is an amazing photographer as well.
I enjoy doing product and food photography, so you'll see a lot of that on the blog. I'm also obsessed with macro photography, so there's tons of that floating around.

Design
Design to me is many things. Graphic and web design are the main two, but I am also interested in architecture and interior design. As an added bonus, I like to create my own crochet patterns and I consider those a part of design as well.
